High quality bolt tightening processes with low tolerances require the tightening technique. Bolt sizes and qualities as well as the required end torque and tolerance determine the tightening process. The procedure depends on the type of joint: hard or soft joint. Our system guarantees the quality and documentation of the process. All tightening processes are repeatable independent of the variation of various factors.

Alkitronic-cardos, the central control unit of the MDS-system, is analysing, monitoring and controlling the specific bolt tightening process. The manually entered and electronically monitored parameter settings are computer controlled, logically proven and displayed on an LCD-display.

According to the classification a variety of different measurements and monitoring methods can be chosen. Initial pretension is achieved by controlled torque or by a combination of torque and angle.

Loosening of the sensor-tool can be done manually or automatically. Actual values and required values can be printed out on a standard printer using the Centronics-Interface via the parallel port.

Depending on the model, alkitronic®-cardos is able to control up to four different Alkitronic® sensor tools, either stationary or on site. The sensor tools can be directly connected to the unit. A bar-code reader for the input of the tool parameters is available as an option.

The base model will accommodate one sensor torque tool (1-channel). Advantages:

  • modular system, will accommodate up to 4 channels (4 tools)
  • power supply 230/110 V, 50/60Hz (other versions available on request)
  • user-friendly input via keyboard and display
  • optional remote control with separate terminal connected to the serial interface available
  • bar-code reader available as an option

  • Input 0-5 V for torque, impulse square wave for angle reading
  • resolution: 12 Bit (=4096 increments), angle 1 degree

  • electric sensor torque wrenches with change of direction switch
  • sensor torque tools with standard mains plug
  • pneumatic sensor torque wrenches with 24-Volt magnetic valves
  • torque and angle sensors

LSD

The tightening process is electronically controlled. The required torque is produced by the continuously turning alkitronic® Sensor torque tools. This is the pre-tensioning process. The pneumatic sensor torque wrenches type LSD shut off once the pre-set torque is reached. Automatically, accurate and torque transducer controlled.

The torque can be preselected. The control is done by the microprocessor controlled unit alkitronic®-cardos. Press buttons for the change of direction are directly integrated in the MDS control unit.

LSD Tool

Tightening with high quality demands are achieved by electronic measurement, monitoring and control. The initial tension is achieved by torque combined with the angle. This dual-process results in precise initial tension of any bolt type and mostly eliminates the influence of friction, lubrication etc.

  • Practical hint:
    control using a small pre-torque (20 % of torque) plus a certain angle
    Using this method the initial tension is achieved in a continuous process

Function: the first step is the continuous tightening up to about 20 % of the target torque. The second step is the continuous tightening (without stops) until the target angle is reached (see graphic). This method guarantees an accurate repeatability of initial tension of all bolts.

The torque can be preselected. The control of the pneumatic torque wrenches LSDW is done by the microprocessor controlled unit alkitronic®-cardos. Press buttons for the change of direction are directly integrated in the MDS control unit.
